What is this blog for?
At the Economic Manatee, we turn complex and often misunderstood ideas into clear, digestible explanations. We cut through the noise and focus on the facts, covering economics, news, and politics.
Why does this blog exist?
Much of what’s reported in economics and politics can be confusing, misleading, or oversimplified. This blog exists to make sense of it all: calmly, clearly, and without sensationalism.
What should readers expect?
Expect thoughtful, fact-based commentary that explains the “why” behind the headlines. We aim to make complicated topics understandable without dumbing them down, helping readers make sense of the world around them.
Who is this blog for?
Whether you’re a curious reader that wants to understand more about the world around them, or just someone who wants clarity on a particular issue, the Economic Manatee is here to help you navigate the noise with calm, clear insight.
Why do you have odd spelling?
You may notice that the Economic Manatee uses “centre” instead of “center”, “colour” instead of “color” and distinguishes between the noun “licence” and the verb “license”. These are not mistakes but are simply because the Economic Manatee is based in the UK and therefore we use British English.
The wider implication is that we focus on UK economics, politics and news first. Much of the information is valid for the rest of the globe but do be aware that some information is specific to old Blighty.
So now you know, pull up a chair, put the kettle on, and let’s put the world to rights…
We do our best…
This site is for general information and educational purposes only. It reflects a good-faith effort to explain economic, political, and news topics clearly and accurately, using publicly available sources.
Content may include commentary, analysis, and opinion, although we try to keep things as factual and clear as possible. Links to external websites are provided for reference and do not imply endorsement. Information may change over time, and readers are encouraged to consult primary sources where appropriate.
Nothing on this site should be taken as professional, legal, or financial advice.
Why does your web-site have <something I noticed> problem?
We’re still new to this and learning as we go. The Economic Manatee will hopefully improve over time as our skills improve. In the meantime, we hope you can focus on the content and forgive us the occasional blip.
Why do you use AI-generated images?
The debate around AI and images in particular will likely form the basis of plenty of blog posts in the future. As of now though, we use AI-generated images to represent the content of some of the blog posts. The images are not meant to be art or to replace the ingenuity of human creativity but they are a quick way of adding a visual to represent a blog post. Nothing more than that. The Economic Manatee is run on a very tight budget. Maybe in the future we can employ a dedicated cartoonist but in the meantime, please bear with us as we use the tools at our disposal.
